Preparing for the HCL Service Desk interview in 2025 involves several key steps to ensure you’re well-equipped for the technical and behavioral questions you might face. You need to be good in technical support and should be good communication skills.
Below are some important topics which you need to prepare if you are preparing for service desk.
1. Understand the Role
Familiarize yourself with the responsibilities of a Service Desk Analyst. This includes handling customer queries, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing support for various IT services.
2. Technical Skills
Brush up on your technical knowledge, especially in areas such as:
- Networking: Understanding IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and troubleshooting network issues.
- Operating Systems: Proficiency in Windows, Linux, or other relevant operating systems.
- Hardware: Basic knowledge of computer hardware components and troubleshooting.
- Software: Familiarity with common software applications and troubleshooting common issues.
- Technical Questions: Prepare some technical questions which I already uploaded on YouTube and website both.
3. Ticketing Systems
Be prepared to discuss your experience with ticketing systems in service desk like ServiceNow, JIRA, or any other system you’ve used. Explain how you manage and resolve tickets efficiently. Speak about SLA and Ticket handling time.
4. Problem-Solving Skills
Practice your problem-solving skills by working through common IT issues in service desk. Be ready to explain your approach to troubleshooting and resolving issues, including communication with clients.
5. Soft Skills
Highlight your communication, teamwork, and customer service skills. These are crucial for a Service Desk role as you’ll be interacting with customers and colleagues regularly. 6. Mock Interviews
Conduct mock interviews with me or use online resources to practice answering common interview questions which I uploaded on my website. This will help you become more comfortable and articulate during the actual interview in service desk.
